What  this quote means is that if you work hard for something you are interested in and that you like, you will succeed that plan. Also that if you choose to change what you want in life it will end up not being hard for you anymore because you’ve made up your mind with what you want to do with your life. Also if you try something or even anything new it will not seem as difficult for you, because you are barely starting and you are learning about what it is about. So if you put a lot of effort into what you are doing in life and to what you are interested in it will pay off eventually.
