What this quote means is that he did not care about fame. He just wanted to help his team to choose the right. He did not care about losing. He just cared about his team doing what is best for them. For example, he never talked to his team about winning or losing. He just wanted the team to try there best. Also to give effort into the game. He did not want to leave a story behind. He just wanted to be known as any other regular coach.
