Psychiatrist
Duties and responsibilities:
Psychiatrist are physicians who evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder. Prescribe, direct, and administer psycho-therapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Licensed to use a wide variety of treatments and may write prescriptions. Psychiatrists may work for the government, have their own private practice, or work in hospitals, clinics, or universities. Their duties include:
- designing treatment programs
- conducting psychotherapy sessions
- prescribing potent mental illness drugs
- supervising electro therapy treatments
- conducting research
- lading a team of mental health car providers

$90,000-$200,000
Educational Requirements
Bachelors, masters, Ph.D. degrees
In addition to completing the requirements for a degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine, psychiatrists must complete an intensive three year residency in psychiatry.
Reflection: I do not think I'd like to be one just because it isn't something I am moved by. It might be good money but I am more of a hands on when it becomes to medical careers whether it be a surgeon or a veterinarian. I wouldn't like to just sit around and work.
